Thankfully, it's not as repetitive as the previous. Though, that's not saying much. # # # # # # # # # # # # # # The Dragon Bound Quartet is a fun easy read. It describes the adventures of Ruby Firehaven, her ascent of Mt. Doom, and her ultimate coronation as Consort to The Dragon. We in the Seven Realms find the story delightful and fun... and not just because The Dragon says we do, but because it is playful, amusing, and not overly serious... or for that matter serious at all. As we all know, now that the borders have fallen, store shelves are overrun with crossover novels. It seems like every vortex is seeking to educate the world about it's history. But we feel that our little tale is a little different from the rest and if nothing else focuses on the comical trials and fanciful tribulations of a pleasant young lady from the Earth vortex. A young lady, who I must say has stolen the hearts of all she has met be they Boogey Man security guards, Elvin museum curators... {It really does just stop short there. This is a work in progress... never to be finished.} How do you describe a 105,000 word novel in a single page? It's an easy read. It's not controversial. It's fun. The bad guys aren't even bad, while the good guys make fine companions for a day at the beach, an evening at home, or a month of nights right before bedtime. No nightmares here. Granted, the controversial subjects of Goblin Sovereignty and the good old days of Hack and Slash adventuring are covered... along with the more mundane aspects of the multidimensional, cross vortexular world in which we all now live, but not to worry. The whole story takes place in the Seven Realms, the lands ruled by the Dragon and his newly chosen consort: Ruby Firehaven. And they like their kingdom to be... um, joyful, happy, delightful, and assessable to all. {And here, we have the break for another version.} It's a wonderful companion while spending an evening at home curled up next to a warm fire, under a warm blanket, and sipping on a steaming cup of hot chocolate. It's a delightful way to wile away a warm afternoon at the beach. And, it is a treasure to be savored over the course of many months, reading a single chapter right before bed. {Guess what? Yep. That's right. Here begins another go.} More than anything else, The Dragon Bound Quartet is a nice, easy, pleasant read. The characters are nice. No one dies. There's not a sword fight in the entire novel... as long as you overlook the scene where Grt and Crazy George clash spoons... and most of all even the monsters, the adversaries... Well, they're just friendly. You know, the Boogey Man is the type of guy you'd like to have live in your coat closet...
