CivilizatinIV.ini BTS BAT/BUG # # # # # # # # # Brett Paufler Notes Non-Relevant Entries Deleted # # # # # # # # # [CONFIG] #FullScreen = ask About the only time I don't want a Full Screen is when I am taking a Screenshot, as I never got the In Game Screenshot Utility to work. #SetMaxFrameRate = 0 I've never set this. But towards the end of my playing, I started wondering if I reduced the FrameRate, would that reduce the load on my CPU... or at least, GPU? #MaxAutoSaves = 5 Typically, this would be 0 for unlimited. But I got sick of deleting them (hundreds at a go, 1 per turn), so I reset this. #AutoSaveInterval = 4 Don't ask me why. These are the ending values as I clear CIV IV from my system. Most of the time, this would have been 1. Thus, in conjunction with the previous, at T342, there would be 342 Auto Saves, just as a for instance. #UserProfile = Default Profile Well, now I'm just curious. What would changing this value do? Where are any profiles stored? And what can be modified? #DisableFileCaching = 1 Let us assume 1=True and 0=False. I would opt for False, so as to force a re-reading of all base files each time the game is restarted. There is no meaningful (time) advantage in working from a cache, in my (ever so humble) opinion. #Mod = BAT Mod 4.1 It's just easier than reselecting the same value every time. # # # # # # # # # [GAME] #Map = Planet_Generator_0_68 Having never set this manually, I can only assume some values are auto-updated during play. #GameType = singlePlayer There shall be no other. #GameOptions = 00000110000110000000011000 And this is just bad programming. All these other values are listed out. And now, here's a fabulously long Magic Number. I assume it has something to do with: No Barbs, No Tech Brokering, No Huts, and so on. #VictoryConditions = 1111111 Everyone. Every Time. Seriously, I question whether the "AI" knows enough to avoid working towards a Disabled Victory Condition. #QuickHandicap = HANDICAP_MONARCH #GameSpeed = GAMESPEED_MARATHON I avoided Marathon Speed for the longest time, thinking it would increase Game Play Time. But it doesn't... not really. Sure, there are more Turns. But to some extent, every Turn is less important. But really, what actually happens is that Troop Movement is bolstered. Essentially, Troops get 3x movement after one accounts for Cities progressing at 1/3 speed. #SeaLevel = SEALEVEL_HIGH #Climate = CLIMATE_TEMPERATE #WorldSize = WORLDSIZE_STANDARD I did not have the control I would have liked over Map Generation. And it is as simple as that. #GameName = War Monger I also used DATA a lot, as my GameName. As with everything else, this value might be listed in two, three, or more places... and from there, who knows the priority? #Alias = War Monger And how this differs from the above, I know not. #CheatCode = Chipolte More control over what sort of cheating is allowed would have been nice. Like, I often want to cheat during the first turn, changing the map. But after that, not so much. # # # # # # # # # [DEBUG] #Port = 2056 I would prefer an OS that was almost completely disabled with all Ports and Services needing to be specifically allowed. Or in other words, I don't need a Generalized Do Everything Machine. I'd rather be able to pick and choose. # # # # # # # # # The big ones are "ask" and "Chipolte". # # # # # # # # # (c) Brett Paufler 2022-06-13
