Antarctica Same Map, Again 2021-01-20 (c) Copyright Brett Paufler # # # # # # I would have been happy to play through The Map last time. But The Game crashed. I'm guessing because of an excess of Civilizations. As such, I will try to clean up The Board, this time. Always War With Everyone All Religions Or so I will try I might skip some of The Wonders, especially The Religious Ones... especially if I opt for Free Religion early, like I did last game. # # # 2021-01-20 20BC T348 In not much time, I went through many a Turn, mainly because there was no Combat or Troop Movement. I just got the Barbary Corsair and am off to do some damage with that Unit. I have All Religions and All Wonders and nobody is in much shape to challenge me. I am At War with the world. But there has been no offensive. Even though I have Built all The Shrines, I don't think anyone else has a single Religion in a single City anywhere on The Map. I presume a lack of Unifying Religion is causing all sorts of extra Revolutions. I am sending my Cogs out to Explore The World. Hopefully after contact, The Barbarians (i.e. all other Civilizations) will get some Religion. # # # 2021-01-20 720AD T444 And that's it on the day: No crash I'm the clear leader No surprise there And I'm on the Warpath # # # 2021-01-22 835AD T467 The AI is outmatched. So, one wonders why I keep going. Still, I like winning. I am slowly expanding down The Mongol Peninsula. In the end, I expect to have Three Cities there. So, it will be fairly sparse. The biggest stress is whether The Game is going to crash or not. The Build Queue in Antarctica (the only Build Queue that matters) is backed up 30 Turns. If I were playing for real (or not playing with my opponents like a cat plays with a mouse), I'd be best served by going full on Military Production. But that is not what I shall do. # # # 2021-01-22 1115AD T523 I've been in a holding pattern for upwards of 50 Turns. I was making nice headway down The Mongolian Peninsula. But two stacks (turning to three) from differing Enemy Civilizations threatened Paris. So, I pulled back and killed a slew of them. But the remaining units took up residence on a Hill outside town. And it's been a stand-off ever since. That stand-off is going to end Next Turn. I have no fear of another becoming a Tech Rival. So, I'm barely attending to where they are at. After all, in the field, I am currently going up against Swords, Axes, and Bows... not even Longbows. They do not stand a chance. And yet, I let my Troops sit for 50 Turns, because Patience Is A Virtue. It simply is. Also, Bombards will take care of the problem, so why waste troops? The Barbary Corsair continues to be fun. It's a slaughter. I wonder how many Hammers it has eaten. # # # 2021-01-23 1210AD T542 Having The Tech Lead, The Endless War is going swimmingly. I just got done destroying Arabia and Mongolia. So, that side of The Continent is mine. The Chinese on the other side {of The Continent} are getting Engineering. So, it will not be such a cakewalk. But I'll be getting Cannons soon enough. So, yes it will be. Rome was going gang-busters for awhile, easily tripling my Power at the time. But there was a Revolution (big surprise there) and their power plummeted. I am (and shall remain) The Power Leader. Yeah, sure. England is hot on my heels. But their empire will fold soon enough. Currently Researching Optics, The English seem the most advanced... you know, besides me. I really could not say why I am still enjoying The Game. Perhaps, because of The Revolution Mechanic, The Game (as I would have it) is not in the bag. Also, I would like to complete The Tech Tree. My Research is at 691B/T, which really is not that great. Certainly, it's not enough for Future Tech I at 169,000 Beakers. # # # 2021-01-23 1374AD T582 Once again, if I went Full Military, I could end this. But instead, I want to make an empire. I have one City which is veering off into instability. Sure, it's a long way off. But I'd like to get it under control long before then. I just lost a Worker nearby. And there was fighting close at hand. It's an island. So, that might factor in. Also, one gets a {Anti-Revolution Stability} bonus for winning battles and the fighting has not been all that great lately on account of a closing Tech Gap. So, there maybe something in that. We will see. # # # 2021-01-23 1384AD T687 I am going to be changing my Civics soon enough to ensure Stability. Caste System will have soon run it's course. And to this end, I am Researching Democracy, which would not otherwise be overly important. # # # 2021-01-23 1410AD T600 Winning Wars is good for Stability. I am the Tech Leader... far and away. I'm still having fun. But sooner or later, that will be that. I really don't see why The AI has such a hard time with Stability. It's probably because of Slavery. And I don't like Slavery. So, that doesn't effect me at all. # # #
