Options Per Screenshots # # # I decided on orange again for slightly different reasons 1) I really suck if I don't have the cultural expansion. I depend on this. 2) I was thinking about taking a military trait, but +1 for creative, seems much better. On seeing the roll (this is maybe the fourth map regeneration, I'm getting less picky), this looked like a great place to land a dual city and (hopefully) bisect the continent. Of course, with my luck, artic frost is the only thing awaiting on one side or the other. Plan: Two cities back to back Warfare Use creative, to dominate tech Let's see how it plays out. # # # 400BC Shaka settled north, so I never got that fourth city in place. Well, I have every confidence, I will eventually steal this city from him. First, I will settle West, down the coast and take over those two barbarian cities. The hilly desert inbetween Golden Rod and the main trio of cities is tempting to settle, but the maintenance hit won't make it worthwhile for ages. # # # 1AD Took two barbarian cities with swords, quite easily. So, maybe should have done a year or two sooner. Have tons of units, so will be looking for a new target before long. Safe tech lead against the three I have met with absolutely no trading. Cities are slowly growing. It's the hard way, building everything in the cities, building them up prior to turning them into war machines, carefully controlling their population. Not a single wonder yet. On beeline for optics, then Feudalism for vassal states. Upcoming Plans 1) Will need to crank out a few more workers 2) Change Espionage to concentrate on Russia... and maybe Shaka 3) Egypt is going down... too many sweet cities for the taking, but it will be a long road. # # # 620AD On the eve of war. Shaka demanded tribute. Rule #1 always pay tribute. The AI does not ask unless it thinks it can take you. And if it thinks it can take you, it probably can. I took over the two barbarian cities and founded another on the peninsula. And now, I need a new victim, which shall be Egypt, now that Shaka has declared war. I'm late to the game by a few turns. But I have little expectation Shaka will do much damage. The first city on the list, I'm expecting to raze. That one in the corner (Akhetaten). Ironically, for all my wonder building in games past, it will likely be easier and more productive to simply take Thebes. I have directed all my espionage at Stalin. Likely, the order will be Egypt, Zulu, Russia. But it is too early to tell. Also, I mustn't forget that at Steam Engine, the Dutch get a boost with Dykes. +1 hammer on all ocean and river hexes. And all my cities are ocean facing, so 2f, 1h, 3c on the lot. # # # Killed (as in razed) two Egyptian cities, but haven't gained anything yet in my war. When asking for peace, they demanded the city of Sakae, and that's what they beelined for in their counter offensive. # # # Got nowhere in my military struggle. Killed left, culture too much Right, culture too much Higher up, then right, and they'd rebuilt the higher up city already Fuckers! # # # Can't Bypass, Kill in a line without cessation or remorse.
